Chen Chong Swee - the exhibition and publication commemorates the centenary of the artist's birth. Born in Chenghai County in Guangdong Province, the late Chen Chong Swee arrived in Singapore in the 1930s and formed part of the critical core of teachers and innovators who fuelled the passion and creation of a 'Nanyang' genre of art.
Over 70 works by the artist are showcased in this book, including a message by Professor Phua Kok Khoo, Vice Chairman, NAFA Board, and an introduction by Dr Bridget Tracy Tan, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries, NAFA, exploring the life and art of Chen.
