Following his first solo exhibition in 2007, the artist, Poon Lian has over 30 new works in Chinese ink, oil, acrylic and mixed media especially for this exhibition. Greatly influenced by his mentor and teacher, pioneer artist Chen Wen Hsi, Poon Lian sought to meld the tenets of Western and Chinese painting styles into a unique language that exemplifies the adventurous spirit and enterprise of a true Nanyang artist. The selection for this exhibition included a rare and towering landscape executed in 4 panels 2 metres tall, spanning 5 metres across featuring the monumental Angkor Wat. Born in Singapore in 1947, Mr. Poon Lian is a NAFA alumnus who taught at his alma mater for 9 years and served as a board member for 15 years with the NAFA Council between 1993 and 2008. Today he continues to serve NAFA actively as the Secretary of the Club NAFA Management Committee, bridging alumni members and the academy through art exhibitions and cultural projects since 2008.
