Lim Soo Ngee (1962 - )
Lim Soo Ngee was born in 1962 in Singapore. Lim enrolled at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where he earned a Diploma in Fine Art (Sculpture) in 1989, marking the beginning of his creative foray into three-dimensional works. Lim also studied under eminent sculpture artist Han Sai Por. Under her tutelage, Lim built a strong foundation in sculpture-making and challenged existing boundaries in his practice. Lim later pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1997. Lim is currently a Senior Lecturer at NAFA and is interested in manipulating natural materials to explore themes of humanity, environment and society.
Lim has participated in several group exhibitions locally and abroad and holds presentations at international sculpture symposiums regularly. These include the 5th International Symposium of Woodcarving in Brienz, Switzerland, in 2004 and the 2013 Wood Sculpture Symposium at Fort Canning Park in Singapore. He has also held solo exhibitions at various art spaces in Singapore, such as iPreciation and the Esplanade. A notable sculptor in the local art community, Lim’s works can be found in several public and private collections.
