Lim Yean Leng 林延龄 (1948 - )
Born in Singapore in 1948, Professor Lim Yean Leng has a distinguished medical career as a cardiologist and lifelong devotion to art. As a child, he aspired to be an artist, enrolled at NAFA and obtained a Diploma in Fine Art in 1961 at a tender age of 13. He went on to study medicine in Australia as a Colombo Plan scholar, where he trained to be a surgeon, rising to prominence as an internationally renowned cardiologist and medical academic. While he trained young doctors across Singapore, Australia and China, he also steered the future of Singapore’s art education. Between 1999 and 2002, he served as Chairman of the NAFA’s Board of Management, contributed to the planning and groundwork for NAFA’s 3 campuses at Bencoolen Street.
