Nelson Calderon Perez (1966- )
Born in the city of Tarma, Nelson Calderón Pérez (b. 1966) studied painting at the National Independent School of Fine Arts of Peru – Lima, where he graduated in 1993 with the Silver Medal. His works are largely influenced by his mentors, Mr Jorge Bernuy and Raúl Álvarez, and lean towards the style of Surrealist art.
Calderón Pérez is renowned for his evocative, dreamlike paintings that explore the complexities of human existence, transformation, and the subconscious. His distinctive style weaves together ethereal figures, fantastical landscapes, and symbolic narratives. One of his notable works, Destilación de los Cuerpos ("Distillation of the Bodies"), exemplifies his mastery in blending surrealist imagery with profound emotional resonance.
