Thakudas V Deepak (1966- )
Born in India, Thakudas Deepak developed a keen interest in painting from a young age. Although he received no formal art education, he trained under his mentor and friend, Dilip M. Patil. Deepak’s works are influenced by the old Impressionist masters such as Van Gogh, Monet and Degas and his paintings explore a wide range of subject matter rooted in Indian life and culture.
To capture specific moods, atmosphere and texture, Deepak employs a mixed media approach, integrating pastels, acrylics, coloured pencils, and watercolours to build layered, complex textures. His extensive travels across India and overseas inform his practice through first-hand observation of people and cultures.
