Vivien Yang was a Mathematics teacher with the Ministry of Education, Singapore, before enrolling at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She graduated in 2012 with a Diploma in Fine Art with distinction. The following year, Yang attained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Fine Arts from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. She held her first solo exhibition, Through the Looking Glass, at the Utterly Art Gallery Singapore.
For her outstanding academic performance, she was awarded the Ngee Ann Kongsi Merit Award for her diploma and undergraduate studies. Yang is now a practitioner specialising in oil painting and her portrayal of architectural buildings.
