Born in Hong Kong in 1960, acclaimed artist and creative director Stanley Wong is known by the pseudonym anothermountainman. In the past two decades, his art often incorporates the use of red, white and blue canvas and takes the form of photographic installations. Trained in visual communications at the Hong Kong Technical College and Hong Kong Polytechnic, Wong was a creative director in major advertising firms for numerous years. During one of his travels in the late 80s, Wong began conceptualising his redwhiteblue series. In 2000, he set up his own advertising agency, and his redwhiteblue series was conceived the following year, in 2001. Over the years, Wong has also created a series of art installations, participated in photography exhibitions and produced a full-length movie in 2017.

The Lanwei series reveal haunting images of unfinished construction sites that were abandoned during the Chinese property market crash in the late 1990s. Lanwei not only implies the unfinished state of the structures but also symbolises the aborted plans, dreams, and hopes of the people. Between 2006 and 2012, Wong documented incomplete buildings in cities including Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Singapore. In 2007, a small group of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts students assisted him in producing Lanwei 62/Mansion 01/Singapore and Lanwei 63/Mansion 02/The Model/ Singapore, each depicting an unoccupied bungalow in Singapore.
