Moonlight . City . Dream is inspired by a Mandarin pop song lyric titled Moonlight in the City by Xu Meijing. This artwork tells the story of the artist’s dreams when he first arrived in Singapore a decade ago. The environment of the concrete jungle, lit by harsh streetlights, contrasts with that of his hometown, where the moonlight beams softly. Moonlight . City . Dream is a contemplation of his time here in Singapore and his nostalgia for his hometown. He posits the question: Where would the streetlights lead him– or was it the moonlight that guided him all this while?
