Born in Hong Kong in 1960, acclaimed artist and creative director Stanley Wong is known by the pseudonym anothermountainman. In the past two decades, his art often incorporates the use of red, white and blue canvas and takes the form of photographic installations. Trained in visual communications at the Hong Kong Technical College and Hong Kong Polytechnic, Wong was a creative director in major advertising firms for numerous years. During one of his travels in the late 80s, Wong began conceptualising his redwhiteblue series. In 2000, he set up his own advertising agency, and his redwhiteblue series was conceived the following year, in 2001. Over the years, Wong has also created a series of art installations, participated in photography exhibitions and produced a full-length movie in 2017.

Based on Wong’s concept of heaven and earth, and about previously performed installations in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, the four large-scale duratrans photographic work portray outdoor scenes in Singapore. Wong takes pictures of locally grown trees from Changi Beach, each representing different ethnic groups of Singapore. This series of photographs were commissioned by the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 and created during a period when Wong did a residency at the Academy. Wong also collaborated with students of the Academy in developing the installation and workshop for six months.
