Published in 2015
ISBN: 978-981-09-3671-6

Born in 1947 in Singapore, Poon Lian was trained in Chinese ink painting under the tutelage of Dr. Chen Wen Hsi at Chinese High School. He graduated from NAFA in 1969, where he studied Western Painting. Through decades of art making, Poon Lian has touched on various styles and mediums, including drawing, sketching, ink painting, portraits and still life works from oil, and landscapes demonstrating the acute technicalities of composition and colour fields.

Encounters: Poon Lian, 50 years of art features a collection of over 100 works in oils, Chinese ink and sketches, spanning the artist's early years in the 1960s to his more recent works. The book also includes an introduction by Dr Bridget Tracy Tan, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries, NAFA, discussing the artist's life, influences and inspirations behind his art.
