“The essence of laughter is rooted in our worldly sufferings; in paradise or Utopia – if ever such a place were to exist - laughter would be as redundant as the locks of every door.”
Published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same title, the essay "Laughing Matter" by Justin Loke explores the notion of satire manifested in the various genres of art practice by six artists based in Singapore. Artists featured are Boo Sze Yang, Cheo Chai-Hiang, Chua Aik Boon, Chen Yi-Cheng, Lim Soo Ngee and Joshua Yang.
