Workshops and Events > Past Exhibitions Dayak: Woodblock Prints by Tay Chee Toh

Venue: The Ngee Ann Kongsi Galleries 1 & 2
Date Of Event: 4 - 26 February 2012

Tay Chee Toh is a NAFA alumnus and 1985 Cultural Medallion recipient. Inspired by the graceful Dayak people of Sarawak, Tay created a series of 10 large scale woodblock prints for his 10th solo exhibition. Immaculately executed on gold and silver fabric depicting Dayak women and his signature motifs, the artist took close to three years to complete these works. Besides the display of the prints, 7 woodblocks, 1 sketch and a variety of tools were specially brought in to illustrate the process of printmaking by the artist. Ambassador-At-Large, Professor Tommy Koh, officiated the opening on 3 February 2012 as the Guest of Honour.
