Wee Beng Chong is one of Singapore's most iconic artists. He is an illustrous NAFA alumnus, well-loved teacher and outstanding artist who was the first recipient of the inaugural Cultural Medallion for Fine Art in 1979, for his artistic achievements and contributions to artmaking in Singapore. Depth of Being was Wee's 16th solo exhibition and showcased the artist's mastery and skill across several medium. The exhibition featured over 80 works Wee produced throughout his long career, on show were historical works in oil, mixed media and sculpture from the 1960s, seal engravings, Chinese calligraphy and ink paintings from the recent years; a testament to his versatility and pursuit of excellence in his practice.
