Renowned Singaporean painter and NAFA alumnus Leo Hee Tong presented a survey exhibition showcasing his artistic journey spanning 5 decades, documenting his artistic developments from his earliest works to his most recent in 2024. The selection offered viewers a glimpse into Leo’s memories, imagination and the artistic influences that inspired him.
The exhibition opening was officiated by Chairman, NAFA–UAS Board of Directors, Ms Low Sin Leng on 17 April 2024 delivered a heartfelt speech that lifted the spirits of the students, faculty, alumni and artist community who turned up in full support. She noted Leo’s role as a public art-maker known for several public works that still exist in Singapore’s landscape today, and as a kind teacher, who nurtured countless students eager to learn.
In appreciation to his alma mater, the artist gifted a painting “Garden” to the NAFA, symbolising a place of knowledge and learning, where the students would achieve great heights in their artistic pursuits.
The artist conducted a well-attended public talk and demonstration of his painting technique in creating his signature textures and shapes, on 20 April 2024.
