Date Of Event: 21 February - 22 March 2020

ROOTS OF METALCRAFT: Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata, Japan showcased the history of metalcrafts and the manufacturing process of metal products and tools made by the famed city's factories. A video and photography capsule of Japan’s indigenous craftsmen and craftswomen were on display, illustrating the evolution of skills by these highly skilled artisans through a period of 400 years. The fine traditions of metalcraft were brought to life through a series of public programmes and hands on workshops. Spanning from knife sharpening workshops to lectures on Japanese metal craftsmen, participants were able to gain insight into and a deeper appreciation for these centuries-old skills used to produce essentials in modern homes.
