At 87 and going strong, NAFA alumnus Yeo Hoe Koon is one of the handful of artists in Singapore who has dedicated his life to artmaking. Yeo has been a painter for more than 6 decades, adept at both oil, acrylic and Chinese ink painting. Full of vitality and energy, 30 of his recent oil works including a large triptych spanning more than 4m in width and 2m in height were featured in exhibition. The opening event was officiated by Ms Peggy Tan, Honorary Secretary of the Tan Kah Kee Foundation, who delivered a spirited speech sharing her encounters with Yeo’s art, tracing his history and the evolution of artistic styles through the decades. Following the exhibition, the artist gifted 3 of his paintings, “Vitality”, “Blue Tango” and “Colours in Bloom” to NAFA. These works contribute to NAFA’s collection, documenting artistic practices by alumni who have influenced the Academy work and visual arts landscape in Singapore.
