Organised by the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts (ISEAA) and in partnership with XEM Collective, this edition of the Art Clinic X saw the celebration of its 10th year running and the 10th year Anniversary of XEM as a Collective, in conjunction with the exhibition XEMX: 5 Friends 10 Years At Infinite held at the Ngee Ann Kongsi Galleries.
This year, the clinic explored the concept of the 'collective' in the contemporary Southeast Asian Arts discourse whilst questioning the relevance of developing network relations amidst a solitary creative practice. The clinic started with introducing each collective member's practices, followed by a peer presentation prepared by selected students from the Faculty of Art & Design (FOAD), sharing their interpretations and reflections after encountering the various works in the exhibition.
The clinic concluded with a "Question and Answer" session where the artists answered questions from the floor, further engaging and sharing their experiences of navigating the contemporary art scene as a collective and how, despite varying backgrounds and ideologies, the collective has and will continue to traverse future explorations together as a collective amidst fueling their own practices.
