Anagard (1984- )
Born in Padang, Indonesia, Anagard is a trained fine art artist who graduated from Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. His works explore current social issues through representations of Javanese culture, history, and traditions. They have won him acclaimed awards in both the international and local arts scenes such as the UOB Southeast Asian Painting of the Year, UOB Painting of the Year, Indonesia, finalist of the 2019 Tortugas Studio Stencil Art Prize in Sydney, Australia, the Jakarta Art Award International Painting Competition, and many more.
Anagard’s artistic endeavours contributed to his extensive experience in managing collaborative art projects while working with artists globally across the Southeast Asia region, Europe and Australia. He cites his participation at the Yogyakarta and Jeblog Street Art Festivals and his collaboration with the Deaf Art Community in Yogyakarta, Indonesia as part of the Australia-Indonesia Beastly Exhibition to be amongst the most memorable projects undertaken.
