April Ng Kiow Ngor (1965 - )
Singaporean artist April Ng Kiow Ngor obtained her Diploma in Fine Arts (Western Painting) from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1989. She pursued her Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking at Slade School of Fine Art, United Kingdom, graduating in 1994. Since her return to Singapore, Ng has contributed significantly to the field of art education, working closely with schools to set up printmaking facilities. She is also a Teacher’s Mentor with the Singapore Arts Council, training local schools’ art teachers while holding part-time lecturing positions at NAFA and the National Institute of Education.
Ng’s artworks explicate the relationships between human bodies and space. Her works have been exhibited locally and abroad, including at AC43 Gallery, Singapore, and Stiftelsen 3.14, Norway. She has attained several awards, including a Distinction Award for the 15th UOB Painting of The Year Exhibition in 1996, an Honourable Mention Award for the Philip Morris Group of Companies Singapore Art Award in 2001 and the Third Prize in the second ASEAN Graphic Art Competition and Exhibition in Vietnam, 2016. Ng’s works can also be found in public spaces such as Woodleigh MRT Station and the Republic of Singapore Armed Forces Museum.
