Ezzam Rahman (1981 - )

Born in 1981, Ezzam Rahman is a Singaporean multi-disciplinary installation and performance artist. He graduated with an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, the University of London in 2017 and a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Fine Art from the University of Huddersfield in 2010. He was formally trained as a sculptor at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts in 2003. Ezzam works with various mediums, including sculpture, installation and performance art, to construct glimpses into the human condition, striking up conversations through his art on the notion of impermanence.

Ezzam has participated in and co-curated numerous local and international group exhibitions, events and festivals. In 2017, he was selected as one of the artists to be part of Singapore Inside Out in Sydney, Australia, organised by the Singapore Tourism Board. The following year, Ezzam was invited by Frieze Art Fair London to participate in a panel discussion titled “A Brief History of Performance in South East Asia”. He was the joint winner of the Grand Prize for the President's Young Talents 2015 and the People's Choice Award by the Singapore Art Museum. In 2016, Ezzam won the Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award by Yayasan Mendaki and the Young Artist Award by the National Arts Council, Singapore. In 2021, he was appointed Artistic Director of The Substation.
