Fan Shaohua (1963 - )

Fan Shaohua was born in 1963 in Guangzhou, China. He first studied Chinese ink when he was 10 and later Western art at the Training Centre of Fine Arts for Children in Guangzhou. In 1981, he enrolled in the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts in 1985. Upon graduation, Fan worked as a lecturer in various universities in China while pursuing his career as a full-time artist. He migrated to Singapore in 1992 and held his first solo exhibition, paving the way for many more that was to come. To date, he has held over 20 solo exhibitions in Singapore, China, Japan and South Korea. In addition, the Chinese ink, oil and watercolour artist has exhibited his works in numerous group exhibitions around the world. His impressive works and excellent skills have won him several awards, including the top prize in the prestigious 19th UOB Painting of the Year Award in 2000, and the International Premium Oil Painting Award by the Hong Kong World Class Artist Committee in 2008.
