NAFA was proud to present this survey exhibition at Liu Haisu Art Museum in Shanghai, as part of the Academy's 80th anniversary celebrations. It showcased 37 works ranging from Chinese ink to oil paintings and sculpture by 13 outstanding NAFA alumni, who had been conferred Singapore's highest national art award, the Cultural Medallion.
As part of the opening event, an artist talk was held for members of the public in Shanghai. Keynote speaker Dr Ho Kah Leong, former NAFA principal and alumni artist, touched on NAFA’s history and art practices, offering insight into the role of art education within the context of Singapore's visual arts scene. Alumni artists Han Sai Por and Lee Hock Moh shared about their works, their creative processes on their chosen medium and their views on art making in Singapore.
