The third installment of this exhibition features artworks from NAFA's permanent collection, which included alumni and renowned artists such as Cheong Soo Pieng, Lim Tze Peng, See Cheen Tee, Tan Choon Ghee and Chua Mia Tee. "Nanyang" or "south seas" as a region of trade and exchange fuelled the imagination of the pioneer artists who adapted Chinese and Western painting techniques suitable for depicting the local scenery. Their involvement with the academy as the only art institution for visual arts from the 1930s had no doubt influenced the art scene in a big way and earned its place in an important chapter of Singapore's art history.
