Cathrine Lo (1990 -)

Indonesian artist Cathrin Lo (b. 1990) challenges the boundaries of mediums by transforming her woodcut blocks into an installation. With her proficiency in printmaking, Lo creates impactful images of children as vessels of contemporary issues in humanity.

Cathrine Lo graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts (Printmaking) from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2011. In the same year, with a team of NAFA students, Lo represented the academy in the annual Dresden-based exhibition OSTRALE’011 as part of International Art Moves.

After graduation, she has been involved in projects in the design industry around the region and was selected to participate in an artist residency at Asia Cultural Center in Gwangju, Korea. In 2014, she founded MADY & LUIGI, a brand that sold children’s wear in Jakarta. Her work has also been presented at group exhibitions, such as After Printmaking in 2015 and Art Stage 2016. Later in 2019, the artist and freelance designer opened COFA Art Studio in Jakarta, which offers art programmes catered to different age groups, from young children to the elderly.
