Yeo Chee Kiong (1970 - )
Yeo Chee Kiong is a prominent Singaporean sculptor and installation artist. An alumnus of both the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and the Glasgow School of Art (UK), Yeo's work is renowned for its playful and unexpected juxtapositions. As a sculptor, he is fascinated by the language and relationship between objects, space, and authorship. Yeo often destabilises familiar notions of spatial proportions and perspectives to create surreal worlds that explore the human condition.
His artistic excellence was recognised with prestigious awards, including the NAFA Distinguished Alumni Medal (2016) and the Young Artist Award (2006) conferred by the National Arts Council in Singapore. He has held leadership roles within the Singapore art scene, serving as President of the Sculpture Society (Singapore) and currently, he shares his knowledge and passion for sculpture as an adjunct lecturer at NAFA. In 2022, Yeo co-founded SCULPTURE 2052, an art space and research project dedicated to documenting and preserving the “accents” of contemporary sculpture. This initiative aims to foster dialogues for future generations of artists.
