In this forum, the artist Yeo Chee Kiong discussed the concept of “A Beauty Centre” in relation to object and immateriality in contemporary art.
Ruth Barker, the Icon Beauty and collaborative artist of A Beauty Centre, sent in a video presentation from Glasgow that discussed her involvement in this project.
As the invited musician in collaboration, Dr Joyce Koh shared her experience in creating her work “Sound Therapy” for the Centre.
Special guest Amanda Heng spoke about her performance works titled Yours Truly, My Body and Let’s Walk, in which she observed the bizarre survival of the local beauty businesses during the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
