Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám is published in conjunction with the hybrid academy exhibition titled Flagship Genius featuring Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám. The exhibition was jointly presented by ISEAA and the faculties at NAFA in conjunction with NAFA’s Open House. This accompanying publication showcases the creative output of the interdisciplinary collaborations for the academy-wide project through a selection of works by students from various schools such as 3D Design, Design & Media, Fashion Studies, Fine Art, Arts Management, Dance, Music and Theatre.
An introductory essay by Dr Bridget Tracy Tan, Senior Director of ISEAA & Art Galleries, provides insights into the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, Vietnam’s first national university. With the temple’s architecture and fables reflecting Vietnam’s blend of Confucianism, Buddhism and indigenous spiritual practices, NAFA’s academy-wide project draws from these sources as creative inspiration, reflecting insights and personal explorations with the temple. The manifestation of the programming was critically integrated into the curriculum and course modules to expand the academic investigations of conventional disciplines into the realm of Southeast Asian art.
