In 1969, Singaporean artist and NAFA alumnus Poon Lian graduated from NAFA where he majored in Western painting. Alongside his studies at NAFA, he also trained rigorously under pioneer artist, Chen Wen Hsi, with whom he studied Chinese ink painting. This exhibition featured works that documented the artist’s practice over the past 50 years. Poon is equally comfortable in the draughtsman's qualities of oil and Chinese ink. His work draws inspiration from his extensive travels around Asia as well as everyday life. Sketches and drawings produced by the artist in the 1960s, many of which have never been published before, were also exhibited for the first time in this survey exhibition.
