In conjunction with his solo exhibition at NAFA, the artist Hoang Duong Cam shared his creative practices and inspiration with NAFA-UAS Degree students. Through a sharing on various milestones in his creative practice, he related the culmination of his experiences and how it translated into the works he created, to that which was presented in his solo exhibition titled Light Permeates the Wounds in the Ngee Ann Kongsi Galleries 1 and 2.
This two-part workshop sees students first being assigned to visit different historical war monuments around Singapore a day before the workshop. Subsequently, they were tasked to create a collage during the workshop the next day, using photographs they documented during their prior site visit. At the end of the workshop, students shared with the artists and their peers their process for the formulation of their collage work, along with their experiences and reflections on their visit to the site.
