In 2014, ISEAA organised an interdisciplinary project for students of various academic departments of 3D Design, Fine Art and Design & Media. A five-day workshop was held from 25 to 29 August, involving principals from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, which was followed by a field trip to the Asian Civilisations Museum to gain insights into forms of narratives through Asian folk motifs and iconographies.
Tapping into Indonesia's rich cultural heritage of folklore and mythology through time-honoured iconographies evident in traditional art forms, this publication presents a variety of interesting outcomes. Students learned to conceptualise their ideas and transformed key narrative traditions into contemporary interpretations through drawings, imageries, objects, models and short films that were showcased in the accompanying exhibition.
